After walking more than 14,000 miles to assist to all 5th season European Poker Tour events, after meeting 11 champions in some of the most important and glamurous cities in the world, like Barcelona, Nassau, Warsaw, Dortmund or San Remo, there was time for the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo. Now, we have a new champion the 26-year-old from Nederlands Pieter de Korver.
Pieter De Korver was the only survivor in a field of 935 players who paid 10.000 € to grab their seat at Europe’s most prestigious tournament. Now the neederlanter is 2.300.000 EURO richer thanks to the 9-spades and 6-spades. With this hole cards he defeated Matthew Woodward in the final heads-up to claim the EPT Grand Final title.
“I loved the atmosphere and enjoyed playing cards,” De Korver said. “I had a bit of luck and I won. That’s the best part of poker.”
So, with this victory, the fifth season of the European Poker Tour comes to an end. Sebastian Ruthenberg won the first event on Barcelona, and eight months later, in Monte Carlo De Korver won the big dance. Congrats to all winners.
