Antonio Esfandiari signs with 3bet Clothing and becomes part of the team

Source: PokerNews

Antonio Esfandiari, recent winner of the largest tournament in poker history -The Big One for ONE DROP- has just joined poker pros Brian Rast, David Sands, Jonathan Little, Greg Mueller, John Phan and Scott Clemens after signing with 3Bet to join the team. Esfandiari also known to many as “The Magician”, has signed a sponsorship deal with the clothing line, 3Bet Clothing.

The company was set up by two poker playing fashion professionals with at least 25 of combined fashion industry experience. This company was aimed exclusively at poker players and has earned itself notable reputation after many players have worn their clothes.

“I had my eye on 3Bet for a few months, but when I saw their product in person at the start of the WSOP, I knew I had to get involved. Poker is in dire need of a clothing line that is both stylish and confortable, and I was such an instant fan of what 3Bet is doing as a company that I came on board as an owner even before the One Drop tournament started,” Esfandiari said.

The clothing line primarily consists of hoodies, T-shirts and hats, however there are different lines represented by different members of the 3Bet Team. For instance, Esfandiari´s line is the one he wore during the Final Table of the One Drop tournament and comes in three different colors.

Poker pro Adam Junglen announces an early retirement

American born Adam Junglen has announced that he will be retiring as a poker pro after a “disapointing” World Series of Poker. Junglen announced that he would be leaving the poker industry after six years of sole dedication in order to find happiness again.

Junglen has decided to retire from poker after an awful World Series of Poker even though he has made three cashes which include the following events:

  • 90th place – Event #41: $3,000 No-Limit Hold´em for $7,840
  • 20th place – Event #34: $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha – Six Handed for $16,464
  • 66th place – Event #16: $1,500 No-Limit Hold´em – Six Handed for $4,720

That is ofcourse a terrible run if you compare it to last year, where Junglen won $234,725 after he cashed in four events but came in at 5th place in two of them.

Junglen has made over one million in tournament career winnings. Some of his most notable finishes is his 6th place at the EPT Barcelona in 2007 where he took home $268,622 and 6th at the 2008 Caesars Palace Classic for $147,818.

Junglen has also said that his good friend Daniel Negreanu agrees and that it´s the best option to take an extended break from poker. The most important thing is to find happiness, he adds.

Day 6:

Marc Ladouceur has ended Day 6 as chip leader with 15,875,000 in chips. Following Ladoucer are Daniel Strelitz in second place with 12,790,000 and Robert Salaburu in third with 10,915,000 in chips. After five levels of play there are only 27 players left in search of the more than eight million dollars for the first place prize.

The day began with 97 players but as the levels went on many of them hit the rail. Some of those included Dung Nguyen, Erik Cajelais, Eric Buchanan, Vanessa Selbst, Jason Somerville, Dave D´Alessandro, Sam Holden and Taylor Paur.

Day 7:

The final was upon us as Day 7 of the Main Event of the WSOP 2012 started at about noon. A total of 6,598 players registered to play the most exciting tournament in the poker calendar. As the final day ended only nine of them remained.

At the start of the day it was Marc Ladouceur who was chip leader with 15,875,000 in chips, however he hit the rail in 13th place. When the 11th player hit the rail, the organization sat the ten players around the non official Final Table. At this point Gaelle Baumann was one of the ten players and everyone was hoping she would double up to be part of the final table as it has been about 17 years since the last female player had made the Final Table. But it couldn´t be this year as the last woman standing, Gaelle hit the rail in 10th place and the Final Table was set for October (28th till the 30th).

Final Table Seat Draw

  1. Russell Thomas               24,800,000

Summary of Days 3, 4 and 5 of the Main Event of the WSOP 2012

Day 3:

As the previous, Day 3 ended after five levels but a new chip leader was sitting at the top of the list. This time it was Dave D´Alessandro who finished the day as chip leader and bagged up 1,100,000 in chips. The day started with 1.738 players but once the final level ended, there were only 720 players still in contention for Day 4. On Day 4, we will probably see the bubble burst, as the top 666 players will enter the money taking at least $19,227.

As it was expected, many players went to the rail empty handed, but more importantly some Main Event champs also went. Dan Harrington, Jerry Yang and defending champion Pius Heinz were some of them.

Day 4:

Day 4 started with 720 players but only 666 of them would enter the money taking at least $19,227. When the four levels came to an end it was Paul Volpe who was leading the 282 players with 2,750,000 in chips. Day 3 chip leader Dave D´Alessandro was sitting third in chips with 2,093,000.

The day was supposed to have five levels, like the previous ones, however, the players were sent off on an extended break at the end of Level 17 in order for payouts to be verified. Once they came back, they were informed only four levels needed to be played. Some of the notable players who managed to survive the day were Jason Mercier, Liv Boeree, Huckleberry Seed, Mike McDonald, Chris Moorman and winner of the One Drop event Antonio Esfandiari.

Day 5:

When Day 5 started there were 282 players sitting at their tables ready to play one more day of poker at the most exciting poker tournament in the world, the World Series of Poker. However, when the five levels had come to an end, the field had been reduced to 97 survivors. The player who had the most chips was Kyle Keranen with 6,935,000 chips. Worth a mention is the player sitting at number eight, Gaelle Baunmann (chip leader of Day 2A/B) with 3,980,000 in chips.

PokerStars Team Pro Daniel Negreanu was one of the unfortunate players to hit the rail during the day. Negreanu was unable to survive when he moved his last 240,000 against Kevin Pollak who beat him with AQ of clubs. Negreanu went home with a 160th finish and $52,718 in prize money.
