WSOP Event #45: John Kabbaj claims his first bracalet and $633,335
A total of 275 players took their seats at WSOP Event #45 - 10.000$ Pot Limit Hold’em Championship three days ago in the last $10,000 event of the Series before the Main Event that will start on July 3rd.
From that crowded field, only 14 players came back yesterday to play for the first prize of $633,335, and things advanced quite quickly. In fact, at the second level of play, we reached the final table.
At the final table, players seemed quite cautious, and we reached an strange situation in a major event like this. When 7 players were left, average stack was just 14 big blinds.
And, as expected, within an hour the tournament lost 4 players; Eugene Todd (7th), Jason Lester (6th), J.C. Alvarado (5th) and Davidi Kitai (4th). And then Eric “basebaldy” Baldwin would follow them to the rail on 3rd.
Kirill Gerasimov arrived at the heads-up with an advantage of 2-1 chip lead over John Kabbaj. But Kabbaj managed to double up risking his tournament life in a coin-flip. Never looked back. The final hand was a real cooler. A-A vs. K-K. Kabbaj aces stood up and the tournament was over.
This way Kabbaj took down the title, the bracalet and the $633,335 first prize. Congratulations, John.
